Article 9.7 says safety information must be in the language of the member state where the product is sold. We render it in all 24 — Bulgarian, Maltese, Irish included. The widget reads the buyer's locale; merchants never juggle translations.

The General Product Safety Regulation (EU 2023/988) took effect 13 December 2024. If you sell physical products to consumers in the EU, it applies to you.
What is GPSR?
GPSR is the EU's General Product Safety Regulation (EU 2023/988), in force since 13 December 2024. It replaces the old General Product Safety Directive and sets the baseline safety rules for almost every non-food consumer product sold in the EU — who's responsible, what safety information must reach the buyer, and what happens when something is unsafe.
Do I need GPSR?
Yes if you sell physical, non-food consumer products into any EU member state. That includes drop-shipping, marketplaces like Amazon EU, and cross-border sales from the UK, US, or anywhere else. Digital goods and B2B-only products are out of scope.
What happens if I don't comply?
Listings get delisted by marketplaces (Amazon EU enforces this automatically), products get stopped at customs, and national surveillance authorities can fine you — Germany's BAuA has issued five-figure fines for missing Article 9 information.
Will this work with my theme?
Yes. The widget is a Shopify app embed — it works on every Online Store 2.0 theme and on vintage themes. It inherits your theme's typography and adapts its surface to light and dark backgrounds. Merchants control the accent colour, corner radius, and an optional heading override.
Do I really need 24 languages?
Article 9.7 requires safety information in the language of the member state where the product is offered. If you sell to Belgium you need Dutch and French. If you sell to Cyprus you need Greek. The 24-language coverage means you never have to think about it — the buyer's Markets locale selects automatically.
How does the Safety Gate watch work?
Every night we pull the official EU Safety Gate weekly report and match its alerts against your catalog by GTIN. A match flags the product in the Conformica admin and emails the notification address you set in settings — usually within minutes of the EU publishing.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. Billing is managed by Shopify — cancel inside Shopify admin and we stop billing immediately. No annual contracts. Uninstalling the app removes the widget from your storefront within minutes.
